The SkillsUSA Regional Construction Competition at Catalina Magnet High School wrapped up on February 20, and our students absolutely delivered. From precise measurements in Carpentry to complex wiring in Electrical, detailed Masonry work, Plumbing systems, and strong collaboration in TeamWorks — the talent on display across Southern Arizona was impressive! 

A huge thank you to our industry professionals, judges, advisors, and supporters who helped make this event such a success. Opportunities like this showcase the power of CTE — giving students real-world, hands-on experience that prepares them for high-demand careers in the skilled trades.

On January 30, students had an awesome time exploring the San Xavier copper mine! They learned about mining operations and STEM careers in a real-world setting and soaked up some serious knowledge.

Catalina's CTE students showcased professionalism, confidence and career readiness during a mock interview event that brought together 21 community organizations committed to developing Tucson's future workforce.

Students got to show off their projects during our Science Fair Family Night on December 4.

Pueblo welcomed Catalina High School for a cross country meet, with athletes taking on three routes around the Pueblo campus. Runners pushed themselves to improve their times and gear up for the competitions still ahead.

Summer school students are getting help with math and ELA during the Catalina High School Trojans Freshmen Academy. A lively round of a kind of "I Spy" game included students saying "I see Trojans wearing red shoes" or some other identifying feature and racing to claim a spot in the circle before the group headed off to class. The half-day program prepares incoming freshmen academically and socially for the coming school year.

This year, the program is being held at Doolen Middle School as Bond projects are under construction on the Catalina campus.

The mighty Catalina Trojans Varsity Golf Team battled Amphi, Safford and Pima players in the Spring Division III game at the Dorado Golf Course on May 7. Nearby turtles enjoying the water feature lined up for a good view!

On Feb. 7, Catalina High School hosted the SkillsUSA Regional Construction Competition. The hands-on event featured real-world challenges in critical trade areas such as Team Works, Carpentry, Masonry, Electrical, and Plumbing. Various schools from throughout Southern Arizona participated in the competition.

It was a beautiful night for a soccer game! The Catalina Trojans were fast and furious out on the field!
